Day 001 - Iron Creek Disaster 2020

This was my first “real” attempt at art, drawn during a family vacation at Iron Creek, Washington.

I had been the good adult, coloring inside the lines, staying tidy, being responsible. Then my daughter dared me to draw something instead. I finally gave in.

The result? Trees with no depth, shadows that defy physics, and whatever that shape is in the front (definitely not intentional, or at least not consciously).

But here is the thing — this is where it all began.

Over the next 500 days, I am retracing every work I have made since this one, the good, the bad, and the “please don’t frame that.”

500 days of progress, color, and a few glorious mistakes.
