Day 026: First Still Life Study

This was my first still life, an early oil pastel study of two pieces of fruit. I used it as a way to practice how light wraps around form, how shadows sit on a surface, and how warm reds and oranges play against a cooler background. I have only done one other still life so far because the subject does not excite me the way landscapes and abstracts do, but I still see real artistic value in the practice. This piece reminds me that even subjects that feel boring at first can teach me to see more clearly, push my color choices, and build structure with more intention.
