This was one of my early oil pastel pieces. At the time I was still using Pentel pastels and I had no idea how many brands existed or how different they could feel. Pentel is vivid but much harder, and it does not blend as smoothly as the softer pastels I use now. Even so, some of my favorite early works were created with those Pentels. There is something honest about learning with limited tools. It forces you to find your own way.
