Day 104 — Kolob Canyon (soft pastel)

This was an early attempt to capture Kolob Canyon.
The color instinct was there, but the control wasn’t yet.
A couple of years later I returned to this same place with better patience, better restraint, and a clearer sense of depth. That later version became one of my more popular paintings
This one mattered anyway. Sometimes the first honest attempt is what makes the later success possible.
