Drawn from a photograph I took in southern Utah, this piece was my first real attempt to capture the beauties of red that define canyon light. I consider it an early exploration of what I now call Chromaphany, the revelation of color through light and emotion. The technique was still emerging here, and while the overall presentation feels tentative, it hints at the deeper layering and contrast that would later define my mature pastel work.
