Day 030: A Glacier Lake
This piece sits at an early crossroads in my journey. I was still experimenting with different materials and trying to understand what direction I wanted to take. The scene has energy, but the work feels rough and the depth is shallow. At the time I did not yet know how much choosing a single medium would change everything.
I eventually committed to oil pastels because they are durable, expressive, and able to carry the kind of color work I love. Later I discovered professional pastels that opened even more possibilities and helped me build the style I work in today.
This painting was done with Pentel pastels. They are vivid but harder and less blendable, yet some of my favorite early works came from pushing against their limits. Looking back, this piece helps me see how every experiment played a role in shaping my voice as an artist.
